here = Aquí, there = Allá

 

this, these

this = Esto o Esta (cerca)

these = Estos o Estas (cerca)

 
We use this and these for things that are here (near). This is singular and these is plural.

Nosotros usamos "THIS" y "THESE" para cosas que estan "Aquí"(Near = Cerca de ti)

• This is my new watch. 
• Este es mi nuevo reloj.
• These are my sisters Anna and Jenny. 
• Estas son mis hermanas Anna y Jenny.

 

that, those

that = Eso ,Ese, Esa (Lejos)

those = Esos o Esas (Lejos)

 
We use that and those for things that are there (not near). That is singular and those is plural.

Nosotros usamos "THAT" y "THOSE" para cosas que estan "Allá"(Far = Lejos de ti)

• That man is very strange. 
• Ese hombre es muy extraño. 
• I need those boxes over there. 
• Yo necesitoesas cajas de allá. 

 

Introductions on the phone

 
We use this is when we introduce people and on the telephone.

Nosotros usamos "THIS IS" cuando nosotros nos presentamos con personas en el teléfono.

• Hi, this is Tim. (Tim on the telephone)
• Laura: ‘Hi, Sara. This is my friend Paul.’ Sara: ‘Hi, Paul. Nice to meet you.’
